TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My classroom is my favourite place in this world. Inside my classroom, I will enjoy my beautiful day and time with my beloved kids. As an English language teacher, I need to fully understand my pupils’ needs, interest and problem. This is because in some place pupils hate English language. They scared of the language. They think English is very difficult and not possible to understand or use the language. So, here I am to break these wrong prescriptions toward the language.

My job as a teacher is very simple. First, I will help my kids define their personal goal in my English class. Some smart pupils will say "I WANT TO GET AN 'A' FOR ENGISH SIR." I wouldn't discourage them, I will ask them to be more specific. For example, I WILL TRY TO USE 90% ENGLISH IN CLASSROOM, I WILL AT LEAST LEARN 5 NEW ENGLISH WORDS EVERYDAY, or I WILL WRITE A SIMPLE STORY EVERY WEEK. These are the examples that I will provide for them to come up their own personal goal. This goal helps the pupils to stay focus and intrinsic motivation for the pupil.

Second never let pupils sit at their place. My pupils love to walk around and actively do something. So, that's why I stated never let pupils sit at their place. In my opinion, they have their own right to communicate, interact, and discuss with their friends. It is an effective way to learn new knowledge, concepts and skill. From my 2 years’ experience as an English teacher, I noticed that in group work my pupils will come up with many sort of questions, which is the product of their group discussion. All these inquiries show that they have curiosity to learn. So, I believe each and every pupil can acquire something interesting in the class. It's our job to make our classroom interesting.

My year 5 pupils participate in class activity.

Pupils interaction during class activities. They are learning together.

Their happiness is mine!
